Immediately following the availability of the new kernel update for the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system, Canonical has published more security advisories for the updated kernel versions for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
According to these security bulletins, it appears that a total of five kernel vulnerabilities have been fixed for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) kernel packages and three vulnerabilities in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin), and users are urged to update their computers immediately. There are fixes for an information leak in the Linux kernel's Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS) implementation, a flaw in TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), fixes to the MIC VOP driver, and fixes to some issues with PowerPC platforms. As expected, Canonical urges all users of the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) operating systems, as well as any supported derivatives, to update their systems with linuximage 3.13.095 (3.13.095.142) and linuximage3.2.0109 (3.2.0109.150) as soon as possible. Of course, if you are using Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS or Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS, you will also receive an update for the kernels, but from different versions.
