Unfortunately, if you have fallen for the lure, you may have your smartphone infected with information-stealing malware.
WhatsApp users, mostly from India, Pakistan and Brazil, are being tricked into downloading “WhatsApp Gold,” a seemingly “Exclusive” version of the app that actually infects mobile phones with malware.
The WhatsApp Gold offer is being mentioned/posted by many users.
The hackers are spreading the malware by sending a highly embellished message and a download link from goldenversion.com. The message urges current WhatsApp users to sign up for the service via the WhatsApp Gold website and take advantage of additional features not available in the current app.
Additional features of the app (which the scammers claim were previously only available to top celebrities) include the ability to send hundreds of images at once, new emojis, video calling, improved security features, and more customization options.

Remember, downloading this malicious app will cause a huge problem. By downloading WhatsApp Gold from the website you will simply infect your phone with malware, potentially allowing cybercriminals to steal your data or track your movements and activity.
