NASA on Wednesday denied a claim by the Anonymous - affiliated hacking group AnonSec that they had hacked one of the agency's best drones.
The space agency said the 250GB of data that AnonSec said they stole by breaching NASA networks contained information that was already public!
This Sunday, AnonSec made headlines by publishing a massive data dump belonging to NASA that included 150GB of drone logs along with the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of over 2,400 NASA employees. Here's what SecNews wrote about the incident:

The data immediately began to be made available on various servers. In the same post, the hackers claimed to have taken partial control of a drone flying over the Pacific Ocean, which was one of two Northrop Grumman NOC +1.06% Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicles.
However, the latest news is that NASA has denied AnonSec's claim and issued the following statement:
“The control of our Global Hawk aircraft was not compromised. The allegedly hacked data is nothing more than data that was already publicly available. NASA takes cybersecurity very seriously and will fully investigate all of these allegations.”
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration says it constantly releases information that is open to the public, so any hacker could take it and claim to have stolen it from the agency's internal system. The agency said its Open Data website has 30,000 datasets that anyone can view.
The hackers also claimed that they had access to the agency's network since 2013 and initially did it just for the fun and thrill of hacking NASA!
What is the truth? Did the hacking happen or not?
