Windows XP is no longer supported, and Microsoft warns that without updates and security patches, computers running the operating system could easily be compromised by someone who spots a vulnerability.
However, security experts at anti-virus institute AV-TEST say that everything will be fine as long as users have fully updated security software installed on their computers.
They also say that no one expects a mass attack against Windows XP users anytime soon, pointing out that there is indeed a risk of a breach without OS updates.
Microsoft claims that it is necessary for users to switch to another version of Windows that still receives updates, and while AV-TEST experts agree, they claim that there are still solutions to clean an infected computer and it is not too difficult to get rid of malware in case it penetrates our system.
