Security researchers have identified a new spam campaign targeting iTuneswith the aim of stealing their online account credentials.
The scam is based on sending false emails, which inform users that access to their account has been blocked, as the account information has not been updated.
Users are then asked to verify their details by following an attached link. This link directs potential victims to a phishing.
There, users are asked to fill out a form with their details, which, once entered, are automatically sent to the criminals. MillerSmiles detected a phishing email and after analyzing the sample, it was determined that the malicious website is based in Newark, New Jersey.
Of course Apple, or any other company, would never ask for sensitive data to be sent in this way.
