In cooperation with the Greek Police and the German authorities, a 44-year-old German national of Greek origin was arrested in Voula, who was in possession of and distributing numerous files of hard-core pornographic material of minors via the internet, while a criminal case was opened by the Economic Police and Electronic Crime Prosecution Service.
According to the Hellenic Police, the Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate was informed by the German authorities that, following online investigations carried out using special software, an internet user was identified who, through an IP address in our country, possessed and had the opportunity to share at least one file (video) of hard-core child pornography on the internet.
The prosecution authorities were informed of the above and, after issuing a relevant decree to lift the confidentiality of communications via the internet, the data was identified and the actions of the 44-year-old arrested person were verified.
In a search carried out at his home in Voula, in the presence of a judicial officer, a computer hard drive and a laptop were found, on which, after an on-site inspection, numerous files of child pornography were found.
The seized evidence will be sent to the Criminal Investigations Directorate for laboratory tests.
The detainees, with the case file that has been filed against them, will be transferred to the Athens Primary Prosecutor's Office.
