A few months ago, Microsoft opened its futuristic Cybercrime Center in a new complex in Redmond to combat cybercrime around the world. This week, the company held its first annual Cybercrime Summit, where it signed memorandums of understanding with three agencies that will help expand its efforts in this area.
Microsoft's press release states that one of them is Europol, the official law enforcement agency of the European Union. Another is the Organization of American States, which lists 34 countries from North and South America. The third agency is FIS, the largest banking technology company in the world, which provides its services to over 14,000 banks and financial institutions.
Microsoft says: “The agreements to create a framework for cooperation are intended to foster collaboration and help Microsoft work with each of the three organizations to combat criminal activity and cybercrime in general.”
Microsoft recently worked with authorities to shut down the ZeroAccess botnet.
