Registered Apple who would like to test their apps on iOS 7.1 and Apple TV Softwareare encouraged to download the latest beta builds from the iOS Dev Center.
Developers who want users to use their apps with AirPlay are required to test this feature using the latest version of Apple TV Software beta. Apple explains :
“The Apple TV Software beta allows users to display iPad content on an Apple TV using AirPlay. The Apple TV Software beta is available for testing the new AirPlay feature with your iOS apps and websites.”
Unlike iOS, after installing the Apple TV beta, users can revert to a public version of the software if they want. To do so, simply connect the Apple TV to iTunes, select the device in the “Source list,” and then click the Restore button.
Restoring through iTunes will reset your Apple TV settings, accounts, and original configuration, so be careful.
