Today Sky has unveiled its new Sky Q next-generation home entertainment system designed to give users easy access to all their favourite TV programmes and films.
Sky Q will launch in early 2016 and will be 4K Ultra HD ready ahead of the UK's more comprehensive Ultra HD service launching later in 2016. Features of the new hardware include the ability to:
– Watch programs from it, whether live, recorded or on demand, anywhere in the house on another TV or tablet
– Pause viewing on one TV and continue where you left off in another room
– For the first time, take your favorite shows with you by recording them to your tablet to watch anywhere
– Watch various programs on five screens simultaneously, while recording four other channels.
– Use the new touchpad remote to choose what to watch in an all-new TV guide.
– Use the powerful feature to find anything related to a program.
– View an even wider range of entertainment on the big screen including YouTube, Vevo and the best of the internet.
– Browse your photos on Facebook and stream music wirelessly via Bluetooth or Apple AirPlay.
Sky Q creates a seamless, seamless viewing experience, which the company calls ‘Fluid Viewing’. With Sky Q, it’s easier than ever to watch your favourite TV programmes, whether live, recorded or on demand, anywhere, with the new Sky Q wireless mini box or the app on your tablet.
Key benefits of ‘Fluid Viewing’ include the flexibility to pause what you’re watching on your TV screen and continue it in another room on a TV or tablet . And for the first time we’re bringing the number one feature customers have been asking for, so you can take your recordings with you wherever you go. You can watch different programmes simultaneously on up to five screens in your home and record four more channels – a first in the UK and Ireland.
