Cybercriminals using DroidJack RAT, not its creators
As part of a coordinated pan-European operation carried out by Europol in collaboration with Eurojust to dismantle the DroidJack Android RAT network, a significant number of suspects who used the malware were arrested.
DroidJack falls into the category of Remote Access Trojans (RATs) and can be used to infect Android devices, allowing it to take full control of the infected devices and intercept sensitive data, without the victims' knowledge.
DroidJack is essentially one of the most recent Android RATs to appear on the market, and its low cost combined with its easy-to-use graphical user interface allows it to be exploited, even by non-technical users, to carry out attacks against selected targets.
At the given time, the price of DroidJack ranges from $210 / €190.

According to Europol, extensive online digital searches and targeted police operations were carried out in the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, France and Belgium to arrest DroidJack users. US authorities also helped arrest American suspects based on the information obtained from the searches.
Police said there was no connection between the arrests. The BBC reports that more than 13 separate operations were carried out in Germany, leading to the arrests of suspects, aged between 19 and 51.
