Facebook sends alerts to inform users of possible cyber attack

Don't ignore Facebook's notification (from Facebook itself) warning its users that their accounts have been targeted or compromised by an attacker allegedly working with government authorities.
Along with other elements, Facebook recently introduced a notification that alerts a user whose account has been targeted by an attacker working for government authorities.
“Starting today, we will notify you if we believe your account has been targeted or compromised by an attacker suspected of working with government authorities,” Alex Stamos, Facebook’s chief security officer, said last week.
He added, “We have always taken measures and precautions to protect accounts that we believe have been compromised, however, we have decided to be more vigilant in our security and have added this notice for cases where we strongly believe that an attack could be state-sponsored. We are taking this action because these types of attacks tend to be more sophisticated and more dangerous than others, and we are supporting victims to protect all their online accounts.”
The company, among other things, assured that this notification does not concern any breach of Facebook's platform or its systems, and a breach in such a way means that users' mobile devices or computers were probably infected with malware.
“Ideally, users who receive this notification should check, and repair or replace their systems, if possible,” the security officer said.
