New statistics show that Windows 10 is slowly growing
New market share statistics show that Windows 10 surged in September and finally reached a market share of 7.63%, the highest since its debut in late July.
Currently, version 10 is the fifth most widespread desktop operating system, as statistics reveal, but the best news is that they have already surpassed the previous 8, which currently only power 3.29% of computers worldwide.
On the other hand, Windows 7 is handling the arrival of 10 quite well, so that not only is it still the number one desktop OS out there, but it does so without any fear that it could lose the leading position, with a market share still above 50%.
Currently, about 52.57% of computers around the world are running version 7, which means more than one in two have the version of the operating system that launched in 2009.
Windows XP is still alive
What's surprising is that XP is still the preferred choice for 9.48% of users, despite the fact that it no longer receives updates and security patches since April 2014. This obviously increases the risks of being hacked, but it seems that security is not critical enough for a large portion of users.
OS X is the fourth choice on the charts with 8.63%, followed by Windows 10 and 8 with just 3.26 percent.
Keep in mind that these statistics may not be completely accurate because they are based on the views recorded on the tracking code execution websites, but it is still good enough to give us an idea of how well Windows 10 is performing since its launch.
Microsoft aims to bring Windows 10 to 1 billion devices by 2017, so it will be interesting to see if the new operating system manages to improve significantly in the coming months.
