A young British man has been summoned by Birmingham Crown Court to face a prison sentence for hacking into the FBI and Home Office websites .
Charlton Floate, 19, has pleaded guilty to three counts under the Computer Misuse Act and three counts of possession of prohibited images.
Charlton's lawyers argued that their client only participated in the external part of the entire conspiracy and was not deeply involved in the matter, but the court has ruled out this possibility, emphasizing that Charlton is a very intelligent person who is an expert in computer marketing.
The judge said during the hearing, "A successful attack on the FBI.gov website is considered by hackers to be the Holy Grail of hacking. It was what he was trying to do and, in fact, he succeeded."
He was the person who organized such attacks and gathered the tools and personnel to pull them off. “The FBI website was down for about five hours, while the website crashed continuously for 83 minutes.
