The silver medal in the Robocup Resue 2015 global competition was won by the Pandora robotics research team of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DCE) of the School of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In the RoboCup Rescue competition, the Pandora team had participated four times in the past (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013) and this is the second time it has won 2nd place in this category.

Team Pandora competed in the autonomous robotic vehicle category and took 2nd place in the competition held in Hefei, China. In the final, they almost tied with team Hector from their university and came very close to the top in terms of points.
The aim of the competition, which brings together entries from the fields of Robotics, Mechatronics, Intelligent Systems and Artificial Intelligence, is to develop one or more robotic vehicles that can navigate in disaster areas and detect survivors.
The Pandora robotics research group of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was established in 2007. Today, it consists of Assoc. Prof. Loukas Petrou, Asst. Prof. Andreas Symeonidis, Asst. Prof. Charalambos Dimoulas, Dr. Emmanouil Tsardoulias, as well as 22 undergraduate students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
