Sales of expensive electronic devices are skyrocketing, as many consumers try to use cards to raise cash by investing in technology items
Sales of electronic devices soared under the threat of haircuts
The paraphilia of recent days, regarding the large increase in sales of electrical and electronic devices, under the threat of a haircut on deposits, seems to be confirmed in the case of Apple products and other expensive models of smartphones, tablets and computers from various manufacturers.
The issue was first reported by some American sites, following the logic that the climate of uncertainty and the threat of losing saved capital are leading Greek consumers to rush to buy luxury products. Something similar happened a few months ago, for example, in Russia, before the ruble was devalued once again, when Muscovites formed queues outside Apple Stores.
According to estimates, since the large electrical and electronics retail chains are avoiding any official comment for the time being, since last Saturday, July 4, sales of expensive electronic products have skyrocketed, as many consumers are trying to raise cash through cards (credit and debit) by investing in technology items.
As some salespeople say, where someone was thinking of buying a 500 euro laptop, they choose another model of double and triple the price without much discussion, fearing that in a few days they will have lost their money.
In this case, and when values rise, Apple products usually have the upper hand, since both in smartphones, tablets or computers, iPhones, iPads and Macs hold high shares in the premium segment of the market.
