A 21-year-old man was arrested last Saturday in Middleton, USA, with the help of a police drone, which was used to investigate the area where the perpetrator was hiding.
According to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal, Marquis Meki Isiah Phiffer was charged with stealing a car, robbing a store, and attempting to flee from authorities.
After stealing a car from a 50-year-old man who had parked it at a fast food restaurant, the perpetrator used the stolen vehicle to rob a gas station just an hour later. The 50-year-old notified authorities and police tracked down and pursued Phiffer, who, while trying to escape, abandoned the car and took refuge in a swampy area near Tiddemans Pond in Middleton.
The fire department provided police with an inflatable boat and a camera drone. When officers arrived at Phiffer, his shoes were floating away from him, and cash was in the water.
According to the report, the perpetrator was a heroin user, and as he claimed, he carried out the aforementioned acts as he was suffering from withdrawal syndrome.
