Colorful screen inspired by chameleon skin – Flexible and adaptable skin through a screen Revolutionary method that changes color on the skin and on clothes.
Ερευνητική ομάδα στη Φλόριντα δημιούργησε μια πλήρως ευέλικτη έγχρωμη οθόνη εμπνευσμένη από δέρμα χαμαιλέοντα.
The creators say it could one day be used to change soldiers' camouflage instantly. The method could allow regular clothing to change color on its own or via a low-power e-reader display.
Η αλλαγή των χρωμάτων θα επιτυγχάνεται με την εφαρμογή διαφορετικών επιπέδων τάσης στην οθόνη.
«A surface is being created that absorbs a little light and reflects the rest» as said to the BBC by Professor Debashis Chanda of the University of Central Florida.
Professor Chanda told the BBC that the amount of voltage required to power the screen is low enough to be safe. The battery of our mobile phone, which is a harmless battery, can power this process.
The previous attempts to create similar technologies had only a limited color palette. Professor Chanda said that this technology is the first to offer the full RGB color model – red, green and blue.
"The design of the display was inspired by nature. All man-made displays – LCD, LED, CRT – are rigid, fragile and have a large volume. But now we can add skin of a special color and contour even to a flexible octopus."
«This was the motivation for us, to be inspired by biology and to create a Colorful screen that looks like skin», as the professor added. The Colorful screen is extremely lightweight – thinner even than a human hair.
