Facebook partners with Kaspersky Lab to protect your account: Why would cybercriminals want to take control of your Facebook account? Facebook is very aware of this common criminal pattern and is working with Kaspersky Lab to protect its users.

Thus, the two companies offer a free anti-malware scan to account owners whose social network's team has detected suspicious behavior and suspects that something is wrong.

As an example, Kaspersky on its website states that the social network is a favorite target of phishers, 1 in 5 phishing scams operate with Facebook posts . If the Facebook detects suspicious activity on your profile, and thinks you may be infected, they will suggest you scan your device for security reasons. Once you log in, you will see a warning page that will suggest you run a security scan.

Kaspersky also says that its Malware Scan for Facebook has saved over 260,000 Facebook users in the last three months. It also advises users to be patient during the scan and wait for it to complete.

Users are asked to report if they detect likes on their account that they have never made or posts that they had not published, as the option is provided to perform the scan yourself by choosing from a range of products for this purpose at free.kaspersky.com.
