The fingerprint on the Galaxy S6

fingerprint

One of the best news regarding the Samsung S6 is the announcement that the device has a new fingerprint. The days of swiping and tapping are gone, and in its place is a sensor that promises ease of use, but also more security for the device.

This new technology brings to light some interesting questions, both about what's next with this technology and whether there's really any security with fingerprints.

Android 5.0 and the new Galaxy S6make the device much more secure, but much of that security is based on how each user uses their device.

While Samsung is set to please many smartphone owners with its new, fast fingerprint sensor, there are some concerns. The biggest of which is how secure the technology actually is. Using your fingerprint is a lot more secure than not having a password at all, but if someone really wants to get into your phone, there's nothing that could really stop them.

As with Apple's TouchID, a good photo of the owner's thumb and a few hours with glue and a printer are enough to bypass the phone's fingerprint sensor.

With new technology, unlocking a mobile phone may be a simple and easy task, but a strong enough password is the best security that someone can have on their smartphone.
