The 25 Greek ideas of the MIT Enterprise Forum semi-finals

Following the invitation issued by MIT Enterprise Forum Greece for participation in the MITEF Greece Startup, an international "accelerator" for the development, quality upgrading and promotion of Greek technological entrepreneurship, the completion of the first phase of the competition is announced, as well as the 25 teams that qualified for the semi-final round.

The 25 teams that were selected and are now part of the 3-month competition program, which includes mentoring & workshops, are the following:

• Amicapp: The electronic application Amicapp comes to give the unpleasant situation of recording a traffic accident,an alternative-innovative dimension. The user, utilizing the simple functions provided by each smartphone device, can now gather and submit electronically all the necessary data to the competent insurance companies, within 5 minutes. The application is addressed to the entire insurance industry, improving data management procedures, while at the same time providing techniques for detecting false statements. Amicapp also aims to prevent traffic accidents, through the provision of statistical data to the competent bodies.

• Bionic Healthcare Inc: The Bionic Shoe offers the possibility of continuous and non-invasive monitoring of Shock Absorption Capacity during human walking or running . For people who are runners or have back pain, it is important because limiting the high pressures we receive can be used to prevent musculoskeletal injuries and degeneration of skeletal tissue – prevention which is intertwined with a better prognosis and helps in conservative treatment with fewer surgical interventions (and medical expenses).

• Care Across: The company operates in the field of Health, and specifically in oncology, combining medicine and new technologies. The vision of the team is to offer valid information, continuous support and guidance and interactive tools to those affected by cancer – as patients or as their relatives. The team, consisting of experts in the field, is building an international online platform, which will contribute to better patient care as well as to the research and development of innovative treatments.

• eLearning Industries Ltd. – MyeTutor.org: eLearning Industries Ltd is an Educational Technology company that develops a subscription-based, personalized learning platform, MyeTutor.org. It helps parents address the consequences of ineffective – and costly in time, money and missed opportunities – education of their children in middle and high school. The use of algorithms, which “understand” how the student learns and adapt the learning material and teaching methods to the individual learning style in real time,personalizes education. With teachers and advanced knowledge engines, we target a market of 750 million students.

• Eventora Connect: How can conferences and events become more efficient and enjoyable for everyone? With Eventora Connect, a new era begins, a new experience - based on the Greek technology eventora.com, which is utilized by important organizations and events in 30 countries.

• Gridmates: Gridmates is the world’s first online platform designed to eliminate energy poverty by introducing energy sharing services. With Gridmates, users and companies can donate or share energy (kWh) with those in need. Gridmates is a SaaS (Software As A Service) platform that helps energy providers increase their service offerings to consumers and develop new business models in the Smart Grid 3.0 space.

• Help and Win: The Help and Win mechanism supports businesses to leverage the power of their consumer network to transparently support Public Benefit Foundations, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) actions. With the Help and Win mobile or web application, their customers are motivated to contribute money to Foundations, through competitions that offer selected gifts in real time.

• Hermes-V: Hermes-V is a comprehensive service that provides recording, processing and evaluation of the condition of vehicles in real time. In addition, it performs immediate, real time diagnosis and notification of any damage to the moving vehicle. A small, electronic device is installed in each vehicle, records the condition of the vehicle in real time and keeps a history of the vehicle.

• isMOOD Data Technology Services: isMOOD specializes in collecting and analyzing data from social networks in real time. Specifically, it analyzes this data with the aim of identifying the topics that users are discussing as well as the users' attitudes towards them. This knowledge is directly correlated with metrics and indicators and constitutes valuable business knowledge for the company's clients.

• Join Cargo: JoinCargo is an online transportation platform that connects businesses with cargo carriers. The transportation platform is based on the same principle as airtickets.com, which displays available seats on flights from a variety of airlines. Small and medium-sized businesses enter a transportation request for a specific route on the JoinCargo site and immediately all available transportation options are displayed, prices and services can be compared and booked.

• LearnWorlds: LearnWorlds is a cloud-based e-learning platform that allows professional educators to easily create their own branded, digital schools and sell interactive courses to their students. Using cutting-edge technology, LearnWorlds acts as an “educational amplifier,” empowering educators by giving them the tools to create unique, enjoyable learning experiences, ensuring satisfied and enthusiastic customers. All without financial risk since they only pay when they get paid!

• LiateR: LiateR introduces motion recognition and virtual reality technologies to the offline retail space with the aim of creating a shopping experience that is personalized for the user and scalable for retailers and brands. The first installations have already been made in Athens, in the chain of sports stores Sportmania, while the team has managed in a very short time to enter into global collaboration with companies such as Intel, Microsoft and IBM.

• Lighthouse Solar Systems: Lighthouse brings the technology of large solar thermal power plants to the local distributed level of homes, hotels and factories in an economically viable way. We use Fresnel lenses to concentrate and collect solar energy at high temperature and with high efficiency, so that it can be used in applications such as heating/cooling, steam, desalination, cogeneration of electricity, etc.

• Mist.io: Mist.io simplifies the management of cloud computing infrastructure. It is aimed at developers and system administrators and supports all popular public and private cloud providers. This provides a single point of contact from which users interact with their infrastructure. If a problem occurs, they can intervene immediately from their mobile phone or tablet, dramatically improving the time to respond to critical incidents.

• Offerial: Offerial enables hotels to increase their bookings through personalized marketing. We achieve thisby collecting a lot of data about each visitor (completely anonymously) from the moment they first visit the site to the booking details if they make a reservation. By collecting this for thousands of visitors, we analyze the online behaviors of visitors and produce targeted, personalized content which we display in the personalized marketing banner that we place within the hotel website.

• Panelsensor: Panelsensor is an interactive conference application that allows the audience to actively participate during presentations and speeches. It is a direct communication channel between the organizer and the audience while at the same time allowing sponsors to effectively promote themselves. All the necessary information is on the audience's smart devices. In the last 5 months it has been used in more than 50 conferences.

• Reportbrain Limited: Reportbrain opens the global window to new markets for modern companies. Immediate and accurate business information has now become a matter of survival. On the other hand, the daily volume of information accessible via the Internet increases by 40% annually. Reportbrain filters, daily and worldwide, all news published on the Internet and provides customizable filtered information flows for exactly what each company needs.

• Respi: Respi is a management system for patients with respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD. Users use a portable spirometer that connects to their mobile phone and are able to obtain information about the condition of their lungs and accordingly decide on their medication and their activity in their daily lives.

• RTsafe: Driven by scientific research, RTsafe's products aim to optimize the safety and effectiveness of radiotherapy in cancer patients in a uniquely personalized way, minimizing the chances of side effects of treatment.

• SimpleApps: Every day, hotel guests face delays in using services within the business, while hoteliers need a means to encourage them to spend more during their stay. SimpleApps develops tourismart, an all-in-one mobile platform that helps accommodation owners offer their services on the customer's smartphone and manage their requests via tablet. It is a daily business development tool based on guest insights.

• Sky Robotics: OPRA (Open Platform for Robotics Applications) is a platform for easy implementation of robotic applications, both by hobbyists and companies. OPRA provides all the necessary building blocks (hardware) of a robot, accompanied by open source software. Through OPRA, for the first time, the possibility of implementing innovative robotic applications by non-specialized groups is given, no longer limited by lack of knowledge, time and cost.

• TomoTECH: TomoTECH operates in the brain MR imaging technology sector, producing and offering innovative software products aimed at more accurate and timely diagnosis of serious chronic brain diseases. TomoTECH's competitive advantage lies in the accuracy rate achieved in mapping the nerve fibers of the human brain (90% compared to 65% achieved by the competition), as well as in the integration of cloud technology as a means of providing its services.

• Truckbird PC: Truckbird is an online freight marketplace that connects businesses looking to ship freight with transportation and forwarding companies. It is a handy tool for import and export businesses looking to quickly find reliable transportation companies at the most competitive prices on the market. Truckbird's services focus on international road, sea and air transport.

• Trustporter: Trustporter is a new service for transporting goods and people based on trust. It matches requests for transport with trusted people who happen to be running suitable routes. Trustporter innovates by adding the concept of trust to existing social networks and exploits their penetration to find potential transporters. In addition, it adds value to everyday travel: it reduces transport costs, saves valuable time and helps the environment by reducing unnecessary routes.

• WTI Greece: WTI Greece is a newly established Greek company engaged in the research and development (R&D) of innovative products in the fields of energy saving and water resources. The company is composed of engineers with awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development issues. Motivated by the latest data from organizations such as S-NetworkGlobalIndexes LLC and IMO regarding the future availability of fresh water worldwide, the founders decided to leverage their combined expertise to offer the market a water purification system for use in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
