The significant delay in the operation of the measure, which was originally supposed to be implemented since last August, is due to technical problems (including tensions during the competition), however, prompted also by the case of Mr. Romanos, the whole process appears that “backfired”.

According to the designs of the Ministry of Justice, the use of the “geolocation” system will be applied on a pilot basis to 200 detainees who have been sentenced to imprisonment up to 10 years, as well as to suspects.
