The number of requests that governments submit to Facebook for the company to disclose information about users of the popular social networking site is increasing rapidly.

In the first half of 2014, the number of requests increased by 24% compared to the last half of 2013. Specifically, between January and April, 34,946 requests were submitted, while the number of content "downloaded" due to violation of local legislation increased by 19%.

"We are pursuing a high court ruling to overturn these mass warrants and force governments to return the data they seize," company representatives said in a post on the company blog.

It is recalled that the corresponding number of requests to Google also increased by 15% for the same period, a number that reaches 150% in the last five years.
