Microsoft announces to old and new developers the 'Lifetime' Subscription to the Dev Center as well as the new Benefits Program.
Windows Dev Center requires only a one-time subscription payment, allowing developers the ability to upload apps to both the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store without any annual renewal fees. None of the 600,000+ registered developers will have to pay any fees to maintain their account.
Students and Startups will not be affected by this change as accounts in both cases will remain free. Students can sign up through DreamSpark and Startups through BizSpark.
