The way out of the crisis is the proper use of technology

thirteenth crisisIn the case of information technology, the effects of the crisis had a positive influence in highlighting both its usefulness and the multiple ways in which it can help businesses.

Information technology, which is the cornerstone of every process, has contributed to the abolition of borders, the creation of beneficial, productive and exportable entrepreneurship, the support of innovation, the improvement of costs, the reassessment of negotiations and business value, the use of outsourcing, the improvement of performance and customer service, and so on. Furthermore, it seems that the Government has also understood that it is the only way to reduce costs in Public Administration and provide better services to citizens.

These were the main conclusions that emerged from the conference organized by the Hellenic Institute of Informatics & Communications (HIC) of the Greek Institute of Information Technology and Communications (EEDE) and took place on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at the Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens. The event, entitled “ICT Response to the Crisis”, was attended by approximately 200 IT and telecommunications executives. Nikos Christodoulou, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the HIC & CIO of the National Bank and Dionysis Myrtides, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the conference welcomed the participants, pointing out that the aim of the event is to highlight the critical role played by IT technologies during the period of economic crisis that the country is experiencing.

Sponsors of the conference were Eurobank, Hellas online and Lamda Helix Data Centers.
