Windows 9 – Free or at a low price?

Free-Upgrade-from-Windows-XP-to-Windows-9-Why-Microsoft-Needs-to-Make-This-Possible

There are only a few days left until the official presentation of Windows 9 Beta, but Microsoft is not releasing any information about it. However, reliable sources estimate that the company will probably follow a new licensing policy:

Free or low price to customers who have an older version of Windows. Microsoft has long wanted to give Windows XP users an incentive to abandon the old software and obtain a new, more modern version. It had made a similar effort with Windows 8, but without success.

The design of 8 with the removal of the “Start” menu and the “Tablet” environment repelled consumers, who preferred to stay in older versions. Windows 9, however, promises a more user-friendly design and new features that will motivate their acquisition. Among others, Start Memu, multiple desktops, Cortana, Internet Explorer 12, notification center, etc.

Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 9 in most cases requires a hardware upgrade - Older technology computers cannot run Windows 9. This is another bet for Microsoft: If it manages to win over consumers with Windows 9, this will automatically translate into PC and hardware sales.

The other view

However, there is also the opinion of some, who believe that Microsoft will not under any circumstances make Windows 9 available for free. Although Windows is not the main source of revenue for Microsoft, it does not cease to generate very significant profits. More than 75% of desktops around the world use Windows. But even if it is not available for free, it is almost certain that we will see it on the shelf with a large price reduction. So let's wait until spring 2015.
