Smartphones for Android One from Google

Google announced the first three smartphones that will be part of Android One, the company's initiative to bring affordable Android smartphones to emerging markets.

The smartphones are manufactured by Micromax, Spice and Karbonn, feature a 4.5-inch display and will be launched in India for the first time. The phones will also be launched in Indonesia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka by the end of the year.

Google announced that Android One will be available in more countries starting next year. The starting price for smartphones will be about $105. To make the devices more affordable, Google is partnering with companies such as Acer, Asus, HTC and Lenovo.

Each phone has a front (5MP) and rear (2MP) camera, two SIM card slots, a replaceable battery and a built-in radio. 1GB RAM and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor.

There are more than 1.75 billion smartphone users worldwide, but there is still a huge opportunity for companies like Googleto capture the attention of the 5 billion people who don't yet own a mobile phone.
