Video games with words appeal more to women – Free mobile video game apps are one of the reasons why the number of women in Britain playing them has increased
Women in Britain now represent more than half of the video game playing population! The increase in women in video games is largely due to free mobile phone apps, which have made six out of ten games available for free in the last six months.
Three years ago, 49% of the country's female population played video games, but a major study conducted by independent research firm Populus on behalf of the Internet Advertising Bureau found that 52% of the population who played video games in the last six months were women.
Family psychologist Simon Hampton says there are three main reasons why women have become video game players. The first reason is the many applications of these games on their mobile phones, which allows them to play "in peace and quiet", another reason is the addition of more words to these games and it is known that women love words more than men! At the same time, many video games these days do not have characters that someone has to "kill" or "defeat" which attracts women since men are more oriented towards more violent video games like Grand Theft Auto.
According to the research, Smartphones and tablets with their video game applications, out of the 33.5 million British population, 69% are video game players!
