A case of theft of particularly valuable items from a home was solved, as part of an internet investigation by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate
A regular procedure case was filed against a 28-year-old expatriate from Georgia

The Hellenic Police's Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate investigated a case of theft of particularly valuable items and identified the involvement of a 28-year-old expatriate from Georgia, against whom a relevant criminal case was filed in regular proceedings.
Specifically, at the beginning of last June, unknown perpetrators entered a Greek home in an area of Athens, from where they removed jewelry worth a total of (29,000) euros, a laptop, a tablet computer (IPAD) and a camera.
From the specialized online investigation conducted by police officers of the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, as part of a preliminary investigation into this specific case, it was determined that the stolen laptop was connected to the internet.
A thorough digital analysis of the data and evidence followed, from which the perpetrator's electronic traces emerged and their geographical origin and specific residence in the Chania area of Crete were identified.
During a surprise legal search carried out in the above residence, it was discovered that a 28-year-old expatriate from Georgia was residing there, who has previously been of concern to the police authorities for robberies and thefts.
The case file prepared for this specific case will be submitted to the competent Prosecution Authority.
