Blizzard, PlayStation Network, and many other services hit by DDoS attacks

Gamers woke up to an unpleasant surprise on Sunday morning when hackers took down PlayStation Network via a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

The company confirmed the outage in a blog post, saying it was “an attempt to take down our network with artificially high traffic.” Sonythe positive side that “no personal information” was compromised in the attack.

A group called Lizard Squad claimed responsibility for the attack. As the Inquisitr points out, the group then said that the action against Sony's servers would not stop until the US stopped its attacks on the Islamic State (also known as ISIS or ISIL).
