Security researchers David Gullasch, Max Moser, and Martin Schobert of Mozhero have identified a vulnerability in the Wi-Fi File Sharing service that affects certain versions of the BlackBerry 10 OS.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability could allow an attacker to insert, delete, or modify data on the device. To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker would need to connect to the file sharing service of a vulnerable BlackBerry smartphone.
It should be noted that Wi-Fi file sharing is not enabled by default. So the attacker would have to convince the user to enable this feature or find a user on the network who already has Wi-Fi File Sharing enabled .
Blackberry OS version 10.2.1.1925 and later versions are not affected by the vulnerability .
