The new BlackBerry Cybersecurity Curriculum will provide excellent cybersecurity education , as well as cyber threat intelligence, to support Malaysia and its partners in addressing and responding to cyber threats facing governments and organizations in the Indo-Pacific region.
The company announced that the new BlackBerry Cybersecurity Curriculum is now available for the first time and offers a wide range of globally recognized courses and certifications to develop a skilled workforce and ecosystem in Malaysia and the surrounding region. These programs are designed to address a shortage of approximately 12,000 cybersecurity professionals.
The launch of the CCoE and BlackBerry Cybersecurity Curriculum represents another significant milestone in the agreement announced between the Malaysian government and BlackBerry in November 2023.
At the inauguration of the centre, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, highlighted its role in strengthening cybersecurity. Citing the facility as a key factor in training and strengthening the country's workforce, he pointed out potential to become an international centre of expertise. It sets out the desire to bring together universities, research institutions and experts from Malaysia and Canada to share knowledge and information on cyber threats, developing common methods and strategies to strengthen national security.
The new center will provide Malaysia and others in the region with increased opportunities for professional networking, knowledge sharing and common skills training, covering everything from cybersecurity fundamentals to leadership and technical areas. The CCoE curriculum offers training courses on BlackBerry® cybersecurity products and services to upgrade to areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as highly specialized courses delivered by the SANS Institute, Canada’s Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst and other internationally recognized certification partners. It also offers select scholarship opportunities for female cybersecurity professionals, with further plans to enhance existing university curricula with CCoE student training programs.
