A prototype device that helps you identify if your drink is adulterated has been launched on Indiegogo with a goal of raising $100,000. The pd.id, as it's called, is about the size of a pack of gum, and you can put it in your drink to see its quality.
If the drink is adulterated then a red light will flash.
According to its creator, J.David Wilson, the device uses the same hardware that the DEA uses in the US, only on a smaller scale. Once the pd.id is placed in the drink, it will collect a small sample and test it for foreign agents.
If it manages to raise $100,000, the team behind pd.id (Personal Drink ID) plans to release the device within 6 months and it will cost $75.
The device will be reusable so it won't leave you unprotected if the night is long. Wilson and his colleagues haven't said how they've scaled down the technology or how accurate it will be.
