Internet.org is a global partnership aiming to make Internet access affordable to the two-thirds of the world that, due to various difficulties, is currently not possible.

Facebook's Internet.org platform took a new step closer to its goal today, providing basic Internet services for free in Zambia.

The connection will be made through the Internet.org app, and users will not be charged for data usage, as the app is offered to developing countries where residents lack resources.

According to the platform's director of product management, Guy Rosen, the application will soon be available in other countries that are in a similar economic situation.

The services they will have access to will include, in addition to Facebook and Facebook Messenger, Google search, Wikipedia, AccuWeather, some job search services, and other similar services. The only limitation is that users will not be able to use email.

The application will be available on Android phones as well as on the regular phones used by the majority of citizens in Zambia.

Internet.org is a global partnership aiming to make Internet access affordable to the two-thirds of the world that, due to various difficulties, is currently not possible.

As Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg himself states in a post, in an era where direct communication via the Internet has abolished distances, "this is an initiative that attempts to give the privilege of providing services to countries that under the current circumstances do not have the ability to offer these goods to citizens on their own.".
