In a recent " Ask a Dev " video , programmer Robert Williams shares his tips for keeping up with programming languages, as it seems like a new one appears almost every day.
Even with all the new languages, a solid foundation for programming is still JavaScript. It's been around for two decades, and this primary language of the Internet is not going away. New developments are constantly happening, with technologies like Node and Phantom allowing developers to use the language on a server, as well as new APIs that continue to expand its reach.
A good way to keep up is by attending talks and meetups, visiting sites like Stack Overflow, and making use of the large online open source community. Above all, he advises developers not to worry too much about which language to start with, saying that, "the important part is to get started and keep learning."
