Following the release of OS X 10.9.3, iTunes 11.2, and the companion iTunes 11.2.1 (a minor update in which Apple fixed the missing /Users folder issue), Apple also made updates available for its Safari browser for OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks.

Safari 7.0.4 for OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 and Safari 6.1.4 for OS X Lion 10.7.5, OS X Lion Server 10.7.5, and OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 are now available with important fixes for software vulnerabilities in WebKit, the browser's rendering engine.

The accompanying text explains the nature of this vulnerability, which could be exploited by an aspiring hacker.

The upgrade also fixes another browser vulnerability related to unicode characters in URLs.

As is normal, Apple emphasizes that all users should install this update to make their system more secure.

This update is available from your OS X Software Update.
