It sounds like a scene from The Jetsons, but it's real. The furniture of the future consists of robotic cubes that change position and shape within the space, depending on the piece of furniture you need at any given moment.
A team of scientists from Switzerland built these small robotic modules, called "roombots," that fit together like building blocks, forming structures that can self-assemble into different furniture and shapes.
The idea of robotic furniture may seem a bit scary, but researchers envision using it to provide assistance to the elderly or disabled.
