Today, the separation of Foursquare into two applications is expected to begin, as announced about two weeks ago, with Swarm being the new application and the "mayors" on Foursquare having been frozen.
The Foursquare will focus on finding better results for its users' searches around an area, suggesting suitable venues for shopping, eating and drinking, while through the Swarm , users will be able to see which of their friends are nearby.
With Swarm, the old check-in is being removed and will be replaced with something similar to a status update on Facebook or like a Tweet that the user states, along with their thoughts, a comment, etc.
However, three more new features of Swarm were announced. First, it will be easier to search history, with search terms including city names, locations, and users.
Another feature is neighborhood sharing , which is quite reminiscent of Facebook's Nearby Friends feature, as it will allow users who activate it to automatically share their location with all their friends who are in the city.
Finally, plans will allow users to plan outings without sending invitations to members, but by writing a message like "Who wants to go out to dinner today?", with the user's friends being able to leave a comment on the message.
