Thailand: Suspect arrested for hacking Swiss banks

Man-Suspected-of-Hacking-Swiss-Banks-Arrested-in-Thailand

Mohamed Yassine Gharib, 26, from Morocco, has been arrested by Thai authorities for hacking. Mohamed is accused of stealing millions of dollars from Swiss bank customers after their accounts were compromised

According to the Chiangrai Times, Thai police had issued a warrant for the young man’s arrest since last February. Authorities were able to track down the hacker and his pregnant girlfriend (who has also been arrested and is now being questioned by authorities) at the hotel where they were staying. The couple then managed to escape, but Mohammed did not have time to take his passport with him.

The authorities were waiting for the perpetrator – confident that he would return soon to look for it – and thus arrested him.

Swiss authorities believe Gharib and ten other people are responsible for stealing about $18 million from Swiss bank customers.
