Apple announced last year that it would open a new sapphire processing plant in Mesa, Arizona, in partnership with GT Advanced Technologies.

Rumor has it that the company is using the factory in question to create the new sapphire surfaces of the iPhone 6.

The factory is now back in operation. A new report claims that GT shipped sapphire from this factory to China last month.

This fact led many to believe that iPhone 6 production was being accelerated.

If you're wondering why Apple is investing in sapphire, it should be noted that the material is extremely durable and very difficult to scratch, making it an ideal candidate for mobile devices.

No one honestly knows what Apple is making with GT at the Arizona factory, but everything suggests that it is iPhone screens.

A few weeks ago, Reuters reported that Apple suppliers will begin mass production of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 on May 6, while the 5.5-inch model will start a few months later due to production issues related to the thickness of its battery.
