It will help businesses and organizations to leverage Business Analytics and Cognitive Computing technologies in the best possible way, enhancing their competitiveness in the global market
IBM announced that it will create a new Center of Competence in the field of Big Data & Business Analytics in Greece, strengthening its activity in the provision of technological and consulting services in the region, drawing on domestic, high‑specification skills.
The topic had been discussed at the meeting that took place at the end of August in Athens with the Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras, and the managing director of the American information systems, services and software company, Ginni Rometty. During their meeting at the Maximos Hall, they referred to the ways in which information technology can help the country face modern challenges, focusing on the development of Intelligent Technologies and Digital Infrastructures as driving forces for the transformation of the Public Sector and the development of the economy.
The new center will help businesses and organizations to leverage Business Analytics and Cognitive Computing technologies (cognitive computing systems), improving their operational functions and enhancing their competitiveness in the global market.

At IBM, we treat Big Data as the next new natural resource, which forms the basis for developing solutions that provide not only a business advantage, but also the catalyst for the development of Greek competitiveness in the global market», said Spyros Pouliadas, managing director of IBM for Greece and Cyprus.».
The team of specialized consultants of this center, which belongs to the Services sector of IBM Greece, will provide international-level clients with expertise based on:

Collaborations with academic institutions
Further strengthening its focus on Big Data and the Analytics sector in Greece, IBM is collaborating with the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) to organize lectures, present case studies and conduct workshops on the principles and applications of Big Data and Business Analytics.
Over the next few weeks, IBM executives will present, as invited speakers, marketing analytics tools (Marketing Analytics) within the framework of the university's annual certification program (Certification Program) in the field of Business Analytics. IBM will also collaborate with the Athens University of Economics and Business to create the first postgraduate degree program focusing on Business Analytics, which is set to start this September.
Furthermore, IBM will collaborate with the University of Piraeus to develop and design practical training courses within the Business Intelligence/Business Analytics modules of the university's MBA programs. IBM experts will participate by providing hands‑on training to solve specific business problems, using IBM's most advanced tools, within the university's MBA courses.
