A significant upgrade today for the web versions of Office, with Microsoft now also making the well-known applications that make up the suite available in Google's Chrome Web Store.
This means that Chrome OS and Google's browser users can add the web versions of Word, Excel (coming soon), PowerPoint, and OneNote to the Chrome App Launcher to create or edit documents.
Among the main new features we see in Excel Online, is the ability to add comments to accounting documents as well as edit or delete existing comments. In addition, there is greater support for spreadsheets that contain VBA, which you can now open normally within Excel Online and edit without removing the VBA embedded in the file.
Finally, as in Word, we find Tell Me, a feature that presents with a simple drop down list the commands you need to use to perform the desired function.
In Word Online we also see the upgraded comment function as in Excel, which is very helpful for those who edit the same document at the same time. There is also easier use of footnotes and endnotes as well as the creation of a list that works similarly to the desktop version of Word.
Among the other changes, the ability to print in OneNote and the improved appearance of the text editor in PowerPoint Online stand out so that the appearance of slides during editing more closely resembles the final result.
