Goodbye Windows XP and Office 2003: The latest security updates are being released today

As of today, April 8, Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP after 13 years. It is also ending support for Office 2003 .windowsl_1_0

most popular operating system is going down in history, as the company is today releasing the latest security updates for it, leading users to install a new, more modern and more secure operating system.

The first problems, of course, have to do with the choice of version , since as Microsoft claims, Windows 8 and 8.1 are suitable for newer systems and are not recommended for use on older ones, such as most that "ran" Windows XP, even though it recently created an upgrade tutorial.

The best solution for old PCs is to install Windows 7 , and Microsoft even reinforces this view with an online tutorial for an easier transition.

Also, with Laplink's PCmover Express for Windows XP tool , transferring files and settings from XP to the new operating system is hassle-free.

Of course, for those who wish to stay with Windows XP, something we do not recommend, below we list some basic tips for basic security.

First of all, you should have a reliable security program that will continue to work on Windows XP and be updated regularly.

The same goes for the Internet browser you plan to use, and generally for all third-party software running on your computer. Uninstall all programs you don't use and try to work only with those that are less vulnerable to electronic risks and attacks.

Finally, the router you use, whether wired or wireless, should have a properly configured firewall. And don't forget to avoid connecting to unknown and public Wi-Fi networks.
