On April 8, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP after approximately 13 years and is providing a solution for transferring files and settings from Windows XP to a newer operating system.
The company has informed Windows XP users that they can use Laplink 's PCmover Express for Windows XP to transfer files and settings from an old XP computer to a new one running Windows 7, Windows 8 , or Windows 8.1 .
The program, which will be available for free, will transfer images, music, emails and general files and user settings to a new device via the local network, while there will be the possibility of customization, in case some settings need to be changed.
For Windows users who also want to transfer the settings of installed programs, Laplink is offering PCmover Professionalat a new reduced price.
