For all of you who have an Android phone and don't have the luxury (like most) of always being connected, or you use an iOS device and the same thing happens to you, there is a "hidden" feature of Google Maps that you may find incredibly useful: the ability to "save" a map that interests you in your device's cache and use it offline.
This trick is simple. Select the point on the map that you are interested in having available offline. Then, in the search bar, type Ok maps and press the search symbol on your keyboard. You will see that this point on the map is automatically saved in the cache of your device and you can use it, without being connected to a Wi-Fi or using your data.
Note that this is much better than taking a screenshot of the map because, with this saving, you will be able to zoom in and see your selected map in every detail. So, when you are offline and open Google Maps again, this temporarily saved snapshot of the Google Maps you are interested in will be available on your screen.
In case you're wondering, no, you can't get directions to your point of interest while offline. But at least you won't lose your way so easily.
