Wireless charging for iPhones involves the use of uncomfortable cases that significantly hinder users. The iQi Mobile project aims to change this situation.
The program promises easy, wireless charging for iPhones via the Lightning. Specifically, the iQi wireless charging system is for the iPhone 5, 5C, 5S , and the iPod touch . The system is essentially a wireless power receiver, less than the thickness of a credit card. At its thickest point, the iQi is 1.4 millimeters thick, while at its thinnest it is just 0.5 millimeters.

The receiver fits into the Lightning port of the device and the rest of the surface simply folds over the back of the device. To hold it on the “back” of the iPhone, any thin case can be used or the provided case of the project can be used. The originality of the project is essentially the ability to use any case the user wishes, without any commitment.

To complete the charging process, a compatible Qi charger, such as the Koolpuck or Koolpad, must be used. The 70mm diameter Koolpuck can charge both iQi and Qi systems, i.e. the corresponding wireless charging systems for Android devices. Power is supplied via a USB port, while in terms of appearance, the device is white or black and comes with seven silicone “rings” of different colors. The iQi Mobile charging system can be ordered through Indiegogo, which is used to seek resources so that the wireless charging system can enter mass production.
