According to an announcement from Riot Games, League of Legends, one of the leaders in the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) space, has managed to surpass 27 million daily active players. In addition, the number of maximum concurrent players has reached up to 7.5 million.
The increase in the number of active players is impressive, considering that in October 2012, League of Legends had just 12 million players.
The Riot Games team is trying to attract more and more MOBA gamers through the popular game, providing users with a "free-to-play" experience.
However, the competition is fierce and League of Legends is facing off against Valve's DOTA 2, while Blizzard is expected to soon launch a similar MOBA experience based on the Starcraft Universe.
