Coca-Cola apologizes for theft of unencrypted laptop that put thousands at risk

Coca -Cola has apologized for leaking thousands of pieces of data from unencrypted company laptops stolen from its Atlanta headquarters.

The company confirmed in a statement sent to The INQUIRER that the theft could have compromised the personal data of about 74,000 people.

"The Coca-Cola Company has sent notices to approximately 74,000 North American employees, former employees and third parties informing them that some of their sensitive personal information is contained in documents related to CCR and former CCE laptops that were stolen from the Company. We have no indication that the information has been exploited. However, we understand the concerns some people may have and are therefore bringing this to your attention."
