Microsoft has officially retired the Preview version of Windows 8.1 and users who are still running this build are advised to upgrade to the final version of the operating system as soon as possible.
Windows 8.1 Preview was first introduced in June 2013 at the BUILD developer conference, giving a first taste to Windows 8 users who wanted to try Windows 8.1.
Microsoft notes that the final versions of Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 are now available online and in the Windows Store, and users can immediately proceed with a free upgrade.
The license for the Preview version expires at the end of January 2014.
