Summer vacations are the time when we use mobile phones . Hotel reservations, digital tickets, maps, photos, payments and access to bank accounts are all on a single device (travel smartphone). However, this means that in case of loss or theft, the consequences can be very serious.

A practice that more and more travelers are adopting is the use of a “travel smartphone”, that is, a second mobile phone that is intended exclusively for travel. It does not have to be expensive or state-of-the-art. An older smartphone, as long as it receives security updates, can fully cover the needs of a vacation.
The first step is to install only the apps you really need. Maps, booking, airline, transportation, and communication apps are usually enough. Avoid transferring your entire digital life to the device. The less personal data it contains, the lower the risk if it is lost.

At the same time, create a separate folder with necessary travel documents, such as copies of your passport, reservations, and travel insurance. It is a good idea to store the files in an encrypted location or on a reliable cloud service, so that you can access them even if you change devices.
It's equally important to enable remote device finder, as well as strong locking with a PIN or biometric verification. If you use banking or online payment apps, consider installing them only if absolutely necessary and make sure they're protected with two-factor authentication.
Before you start your trip, take a few minutes to turn off apps and services you won't be using. The fewer apps running in the background, the less likely they are to collect data, while also increasing battery life.
