EL. AS sets up a counter‑camp at Maximos to protect Mr. Antonis Samaras and other politicians from eavesdropping…
The prime minister, as well as other government officials, will now “camp” inside their offices or during their visits so that foreign secret services do not hijack their conversations, according to «The Step of the Week».
Following the tactic of American President Barack Obama, Greek officials are preparing to purchase from an American company a special "stage" through which political figures can talk on the phone without being heard what they say.
The small… government camping that costs about 110,000 euros is expected to armor the meetings and telephone conversations of its officials.
The tent antidote against eavesdropping has a material of reinforced fabric with special fibers, which creates a loose «security cage» that does not allow any conversation listening.
«normally, to ensure this kind of protection, speakers would have to go into an ultra-reinforced metal box like a vault, close the door and speak there. Of course, that is impossible, but it is compensated by the security shield's patent with a special texture. The fabric is based on special aluminum rods, its floor has vinyl reinforcement, and it also includes lighting, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. It can be set up within 15 minutes on the ground, on the floor, or even on a sidewalk».
The first appearance of the "security backscatter" became known during the American president's trip to Latin America in 2011, when Barack Obama appeared in photos speaking through it while he was in a hotel suite in Rio de Janeiro.
Such anti-eavesdropping systems were initially used by CIA personnel, especially when they visited Israel, where they believed the local services had the technical capabilities to intercept their conversations with characteristic ease.
